Weekend Wandering

All our posts this week from Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook, right here for you.  Our week’s worth of our recently posted photos on our social media, for your weekend inspiration to seek out travel, nature, and adventure.  How are you going to make memories that you will talk about on Monday?  There’s More to Life.

California Dreaming (Zanne)

It started off as a joke on Twitter, trying to convince #TravelTribe blogger/social influencer @RoarLoudTravel
with the help of @Always5Star who run the amazing #SundaySunsets feature to come to California as part of their next trip. Ironically, at the same time, I had my high school best friend/maid of honor/”soul sister” Linda in from Chicago and was trying to show her how amazing Southern California was. The result was a morning shopping in Ojai, then off to Carpenteria State Beach.  Then as we drove down the Pacific Coast Highway, with a little Van Morrison on the radio,  we could see the sunset in the rearview mirror, so we had to stop in Ventura to watch it sink into the ocean, and then stayed to watch the Blood Moon rise over the water.  My iPhone photos don’t really capture how red the moon was that night, but we were’;t expecting it either.  It just goes to show-trust your gut and travel by the compass and not clocks.

Exploring Carpinteria Beach. We arrived too late to see the tide pools because the tide was already coming in. I love this photo of “the golden hour” because it really just takes me back to walking barefoot on the beach, warm, wet hard sand, surf slapping at the hem of my sundress and feeling so alive at this moment. That’s what Golden Hours are all about.

The next day we woke up early and drove to Mt. Pinos, and hiked for a few hours, taking in the views from the summit overlooking 800 feet elevation.

Massachusetts Sunset WhereGalsWander

An amazing #SundaySunset taken during my time hanging out with M in  Massachusetts. One of the most amazing sunsets I’ve ever seen-Zanne.  Also shared on Instagram and Twitter some of my other Massachusetts photos and California Sunset Photos. Morning Coffee with Half Dome. Read about waking up at sunrise to drive to Washburn Point and hike Glacier Point to see the magnificent views of Yosemite.

My Saturday is going through hundreds of photos, because every minute the sun rose higher, the light captured a whole new mood on the mountains. New Blog is up now at Morning Coffee with Half Dome.

Of all of the adventures anticipated I never expected to be photobombed by bears and eagles in Juneau, Alaska.

New Orleans: More Than What To See And Do

New Orleans is more than what to see and do. It's more than beads hanging off of street signs. New Orleans is tasting powdered sugar on the fingers, cobblestones that rise and fall with every step; big porches with small details. It's big music, marching through the streets and gentle hospitality.

Heisler Park, Laguna Beach

Heisler Park in Laguna Beach, California is a perfect stop along the Pacific Coast Highway. It's a perfect mix of tropical and wild beach. If you want to truly appreciate how beautiful a beach can be, visit it early in the spring, after a rare Southern California dark and cloudy sky. Any beach can look appealing in bright sunshine and blue skies. For the wanderer that seeks raw and wild beauty where ocean touches the land, this is where you go.

Blooming Flower Fields of Carlsbad

I dreamt I walked through the blooming Flower Fields of Carlsbad. A sea of pink, white, red and orange flowers in rows of waves as far as I could see. I stepped into a painting with the breezes blowing off the ocean and could see the ocean from atop the hill. I realized I wasn't dreaming. This was a dream come true.
