To celebrate a birthday is to celebrate your life, and our gal, Araceli (or “A”) did just that by taking an adventure in Costa Rica.  She and her guy both celebrated their May birthdays with a combined trip to make the most of an adventure with excursions and exploring everything Costa Rica had to offer.

The first adventure happened right in the backyard, with giant lizards, iguanas, and monkeys running freely outside their door. There was also the weather: its common for sudden thunderstorms to just pop up and bring hard rains, which when you are from Los Angeles, unexpected and frequent rain is an adventure in itself.

Next up was driving ATV’s on the beach in Brasilito, Guanacaste. It could not have been more perfect to feel the wind in their hair, watching the waves crash on the beach and on the other side, watch the monkeys in the trees above.

Then off to Playas Del Coco to go zip lining.  They went on 13 different zip lines, and the views were amazing.  After the last line, there was a little local restaurant hut, and they stopped for food and a well-earned drink, as they watched another storm roll in.

Next day: sun, more drinks on the beach and body surfing.

Then off to Corobci, Guanacaste, Costa Rica for whitewater rafting, where there was just as much water inside the raft as there was outside of it.

Then Araceli takes a fishing excursion to Islas Catalina’s, about 15 miles from Playa Flamingo in Costa Rica. She was a little apprehensive about this boating trip because she has three fears about the ocean: Sharks. Sharks. And sharks. But adventure calls, and off she goes…
This rock formation seen is known as “El Sombrero”.  During their trip, they catch Black Fin Tuna and El Dorado, and also fresh mackerel, which the fishing tour excursion guide makes into sashimi that they eat right on the boat, and later have prepared in their sushi for dinner.

Enjoy their adventures in the gallery below.  Feel free to wish Araceli a Happy Birthday in the comments below as we launch this post today to celebrate her special day.

Wow! What a fun adventure. Your zip lining pics looks amazing. I’ve only been zip lining once, it looks like I may have to give it a try in Costa Rica.

It was amazing! It was actually 13 different zip line runs, and both thrilling and a little scary to be up so high.
